Expanding Designated Materials Under Ontario's Resource Recovery and Circular Economy Act (RRCEA)

On August 4th 2022, The Association of Municipalities of Ontario ("AMO") circulated a draft discussion paper of a report titled Where to from here: Expanding designated materials under Ontario's Resource Recovery and Circular Economy Act. 

The paper explores what materials the provincial government should designate under extended producer responsibility (EPR) regulation in Ontario. It is meant to provoke a discussion and does not include recommendations. AMO understands that there are potentially other regulatory tools that might be available and that there may be changes that may need to be made in how the modelling was undertaken. As a result, the paper was released as draft and we look forward to any feedback you might have.
