Joe Gowing Biography

Joseph “Joe” Gowing is a Regional Councillor for the Region of Waterloo, representing the City of Kitchener. He serves on the Region’s Sustainability, Infrastructure and Development Committee and brings a strong focus on responsible financial management, sustainable growth, housing, infrastructure and long-term water security.

Joe has extensive experience in public service, community leadership and the financial services sector. He previously served as a trustee with the Waterloo Catholic District School Board and currently works as an investment and insurance specialist, helping individuals and families plan for their financial futures.

Deeply committed to his community, Joe has served as President of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 126 in Preston since 2022 and is also a Deputy Zone Commander. Under his leadership, the branch has experienced significant membership growth and is advancing plans for a new facility to better serve veterans and the broader community.

A lifelong resident of Waterloo Region, Joe brings a practical, collaborative and forward-thinking approach to municipal leadership. As a member of the AMO Board, he is committed to advocating for strong, financially sustainable municipalities and ensuring that the priorities of Waterloo Region and communities across Ontario are heard.
