Gail Ardiel Biography

Gail Ardiel brings more than 29 years of dedicated leadership and experience to the Town of The Blue Mountains Council and various government  boards.  Throughout her municipal career she has proudly served as Councillor, Town & County Councillor as well, Deputy Mayor.

Her record of service reflects a deep commitment to local governments and a strong representation for communities across Ontario.  Gail has chaired several committees, currently serving on the OSUM Executive Committee where she has contributed for the past 10 years, while previously having served 5 years as a Director on the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) Caucus Board.

Gail has consistently advocated issues that matter most to local communities having worked directly with federal and provincial representatives to raise critical concerns affecting not only the Town of The Blue Mountains, but municipalities across Ontario.  Her experience gives a clear understanding of the pressures facing small urban municipalities and the importance of ensuring their voices are heard at all levels. 

Gail’s leadership is grounded in experience that goes far beyond the council chambers. Her and her husband own and operate a third-generation family farm, now specializing in apple production this farm once operated as mixed farming with both livestock and fruit trees. 

In 1988 Gail opened her first childcare center in Collingwood and following that a second center in Stayner, which she owned and operated for more than 30 years. This broadened her perspectives and allowed her to approach policy and advocacy with balance, practicality and a strong sense of community responsibility. 

With her proven municipal experience, strong regional knowledge and a collaborative leadership style, Gail would bring a committed voice to the AMO Small Urban Caucus Board of Directors.
