Crystal Meloche Biography

Mayor, Town of LaSalle
Candidate for AMO Board of Directors – Small Urban Caucus

Crystal Meloche has proudly served the residents of LaSalle for more than 15 years as a Councillor, Deputy Mayor, and currently as Mayor. Throughout her municipal career, she has been committed to collaborative leadership, responsible decision-making, and advocating for the needs of residents and communities.

As Mayor, Crystal has championed responsible growth, infrastructure investment, public safety, and regional collaboration. She currently serves as Chair of the LaSalle Police Services Board, Chair of Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island (TWEPI), and Chair of Essex Power Corporation, where she became the first woman to hold that position. She has also served on the Essex Region Conservation Authority Board, as well as numerous municipal and regional committees throughout her years of public service.

Crystal understands the unique opportunities and challenges facing Ontario's small urban municipalities. Communities are increasingly expected to deliver complex services, support growth, and meet expanding provincial requirements while working with limited staff and resources.

If elected to the AMO Board of Directors, Crystal will be a strong advocate for preserving local decision-making, advancing fair and sustainable municipal funding, addressing Ontario's infrastructure gap, and ensuring small urban municipalities receive their fair share of provincial and federal investments. Drawing on her experience in municipal leadership, regional collaboration, and utility governance, she will champion housing-enabling infrastructure, energy reliability, public safety, economic growth, and long-term municipal sustainability.

Crystal is committed to ensuring that Ontario's small urban municipalities have a strong voice at the AMO table and that their interests are effectively represented in provincial discussions and decision-making.
