  • Today’s housing affordability and homelessness crisis warrants non-market housing solutions. Collectively governments must work together with sector partners to grow the community and supportive housing systems. There is a clear business case and return-on-investment for doing so.  Housing increases economic productivity and impacts other systems with savings including health, policing, and justice.

  • A panel of community housing experts will provide an overview of sector priorities and answer your questions about community housing. Current issues include the implementation of the provincial Community Housing Renewal framework given the end of mortgages. Ideas will be shared about how to grow the community housing system and ways to fund and finance it.

Case studies will highlight the mix of solutions along the housing spectrum that are required. Practical advice will be provided on how your community can act in a structured way with a systems approach to help end homelessness in your own community.

Overcoming Barriers to Expanding Supportive Housing

  • A panel of community experts will answer your questions about supportive housing and how to overcome barriers to growing the supportive housing system including development issues and confronting NIMBYism. The Return-on-Investment will also be discussed about how supportive housing can reduce reliance and costs on other systems including health, policing and ambulance.
